CMC for food
- DESCRIPTION
-
CMC has been recognized as a safe food additive by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, with a non-toxic daily intake for humans of 0-30mg/kg. It has found widespread use as a food thickener, stabilizer, and solidifying agent, effectively extending the shelf life of various food products.
CMC is used in ice cream, pasta, and condiments to increase expansion rate, inhibit ice crystal formation, create a smooth surface and full-bodied texture, solidify pasta and provide stability. CMC is used in yogurt, liquid beverages, and soybean milk because of its strong acid resistance, emulsification, and stability features.
